Advice Set #12: Sleepovers♥

Advice Set #12: Sleepovers♥
Sorry there hasn't been many tips lately. Fourth of July weekend is quite busy for me.

Anyway, with your parents' and your friends' / friend's (depends on how many people you invite) parents, you can schedule a sleepover. Make sure you ask your parents:
-How many people you can invite
-If there's a certain time you have to be asleep by
-Which room in the house they'd prefer the sleepover to take place in (if it's at your house)
-If you're allowed to bring food / drinks into that room

Hosting a Sleepover♥

-Tell your friends what's necessary to bring
-Ask your friends about any food allergies and anything else they can't eat / drink (and tell your parents about them)
-Have food and drinks available to your friends
-I recommend inviting only 1 through 4 friends; you don't want it to get out of hand, but that's just me. It's up to you and your parents. (Don't invite more people than your parents will allow.)
-Find a room that you and your parents are okay with holding with sleepover in. Clean up that room and, if your parents are okay with it, you can even set up a snack table if you'd like.

Being a Guest at a Sleepover♥
-Be polite. Thank your friend and their parents for inviting you. Say "yes please" / "no thank you" when somebody offers you something, etc.
-If the host of the sleepover doesn't tell you what to bring, ask.
-Tell them about any of your food allergies.

I hope this helped!

Advice Set #11: Being Healthy♥
Requested by:

We know being healthy is important. Here are some tips to help your health!

♥Exercise
We need exercise. It burns calories and makes us strong! You should get at least 30 minutes a day of exercise. Exercising too much is unhealthy, though. If you feel too tired while exercising, don't force yourself to continue.
Ways to exercise include:
-Walking / Running
-Biking
-Sports (soccer, basketball, etc.)

(Although, if you exercise at home at you want to go outside to exercise, make sure your parents know where you are.)

Make sure you drink plenty of water before exercising, and don't exercise with an empty stomach! Also, wait about half an our after eating before you exercise.

♥Eating & Drinking
Pay attention to the Daily Value on the boxes / containers of things you eat and drink. Don't eat too much junk food! Limit foods like chips (except the ones that are good for you) and candy. How do you find out if a food is healthy or unhealthy? The Nutrition Facts on the box / container.
Also, if you decide to go vegetarian, make sure you tell your parents to they can tell you what things you have to eat more of in order to make up the protein. Also, your parents should know about your not eating meat.
Also, instead of drinking soda or sugary drinks, drink water or juice. (Preferably juice that is good for you.)

Also, don't forget that your emotions can effect your health, too. If you're upset a lot or if you worry a lot, that's not good for you. So if you're feeling upset, talk to someone. Don't keep it to yourself; it's not healthy.

I hope this helps!

Advice Set #9: Doing Well in School♥

Advice Set #9: Doing Well in School♥
Requested by: ♫ⓜⓘⓜⓘ♫

We all know that getting good grades in school is important. It affects our futures. Here's some tips for doing well in school!

♥Paying Attention
Paying attention in class is very important. It helps you understand the material better. take notes, too. They're great for studying.

♥Studying
Studying is a necessary thing to do to get good grades. Even if you think you know the material well, it never hurts to review!
Things you can use to study include:
-Previous tests on the material
-Worksheets
-Notes
When you study, it's important to have a quiet place with a table for you to spread supplies out on. This place should have good lighting. There should be no distractions in the room, including television, computers, laptops, cell phones, iPods, and video games. It should not be a room that the rest of your family goes in a lot. Also, let your family know that you're studying there so they'll try not to disturb you.

♥Homework
Homework is a necessary thing to do for good grades. Not doing your homework can lower your grade average a lot. You should do your homework in the same place that you study in, as listed above in the studying section of this set. You shouldn't guess on your homework and you shouldn't have other people do your homework for you. (and don't do theirs for them either) What do you learn then? Then you're stumped when you have a test or quiz. If you're not sure about something on your homework, ask the teacher about it the next school day.

♥Keeping Organized
It's important to keep your school supplies organized. Keep your binders, notebooks, folders, etc labeled for the subject they're used for. Don't stuff random things and papers into random binders and folders, even if the bell rings and you're in a hurry. (To avoid that situation, know how much time is left of class. Start packing up about 30 seconds before the bell rings. Don't let the time distract you from learning though!)

I hope this helps! PM me if you have any questions or requests.

Advice Set #8: School Supplies♥

Advice Set #8: School Supplies♥
Requested by: ♫ⓜⓘⓜⓘ♫

Another back-to-school advice set. If your school doesn't give you a list of supplies to buy, here are things to keep in mind!

♥Binders
Binders are good because they can hold a lot of things. You can keep lined paper in your binders to take notes, and you can hole-punch handouts from your teacher and put them in. You can also find pencil cases that can be hooked into the clasps of your binder.
The downside of binders is that they can be hard to keep organized. If you think you'll have trouble keeping binders organized, buy spiral notebooks with pockets (to hold handouts).

♥Folders
Unless you use binders in all of your classes, you'll probably need folders. I recommend getting plastic ones because they'll last a lot longer than paper ones. Also, if you buy folders with clasps for holding hole-punched papers, that could help with staying organized.

♥Pencil Case
This is important. Pencil cases hold materials that are necessary for classes and keep them from getting lost. Pencil cases hold things like pencils, pens, and paper clips. If you use binders, you could get a pencil case with holes to attach into the clasps. This could help your pencil case from getting lost. The downside to that idea is that you'd have to have that binder with the pencil case in it all the time, you couldn't have it in your locker for any classes.

♥Places to Shop
I think Staples is the best place to go for school supplies shopping. They have a really wide variety of school supplies, from locker decorations to binders to pencils and pens. They also sell many different brands, so you can take a look at different kinds of folders, notebooks, binders, etc. Other places to go shopping for school supplies include Wal-Mart and Target.

Did I forget anything? If I did, comment or PM me.

I hope this helps!

Advice Set #7: Morning Schedule♥
I know the new school year doesn't start until August/September, but it never hurts to plan ahead! Here's a schedule for school mornings that you can use, if you'd like.

6:30am - Wake up! You can change this time to about an hour and a half before you have to leave for school.

6:32am - Wash your face. You should either take a shower in the evening or wake up about half an hour earlier so you can shower and dry your hair.

6:37am - Fix your hair.

6:45am - Do your makeup. (if you wear makeup)

7:00am - Get dressed and make your bed.

7:10am - Eat breakfast.

7:25am - Pack up your stuff for school and brush your teeth.

Advice Set #6: Preparing for the New School Year♥
Requested by: ♫ⓜⓘⓜⓘ♫

Although summer is here, it's not going to last forever! Here are some things you can do to prepare for the new school year coming up.

♥School Supplies Shopping
http://www.polyvore.com/advice_set_school_supplies/set?id=20199612

♥Clothes Shopping
Before you go shopping for new clothes for the upcoming school year, go through your closet to see if there's something that you can do to another article of clothing to make it similar to what you want to buy. For example, with your parents' permission, you could cut the sleeves off of a jean jacket to make a jean vest.
If there's still some things you want to buy, make a list of all the places you need to go. If you want to get clothes for less money than it would cost at a designer brand store, you could go to someplace like Kohl's or Target.

♥Create a Morning Schedule
http://www.polyvore.com/advice_set_morning_schedule/set?id=20198629

♥Get Into the Habit
About a week before school starts, you should start going to bed a little bit earlier and waking up a little bit earlier, to get yourself into the habit.

♥Plan
Find a good place to study and do homework. It should be someplace quiet with enough light and no television or computer. (they're distractions)

I hope this helps! Good luck with the upcoming school year!

Advice Set #5: Organizing♥

Advice Set #5: Organizing♥
Requested by: ♫ⓜⓘⓜⓘ♫

Organizing your Room♥
For organizing your room, I recommend having shelves and baskets. I use baskets to hold things like purses and art supplies, then I put the baskets on the shelves. Keep your baskets organized! Don't throw random things into random baskets. Have a certain basket for each thing you need.
I use the shelves for storing things I would prefer to not store in the baskets, like breakable materials and books. Keep your books neat like it is in a library. spines facing out and no books on their sides. That makes it easier to find books and it allows more things to fit on that shelf!
I also use the shelves for things I use often, like nail polish and notebooks. Breakable things like snow globes can be put on shelves or desks as well. I advise putting them away from the edge of the shelf or desk.
I also use my nightstand a lot. Things I use daily, like my iPod and my To-Do List stay there. I have a bin, about 5 inches tall and 3 by 6 inches that I put things like sticky notes in. I have a cup on my nightstand, too, that I put pencils and pens in.

Organizing you Closet♥
In my closet, I have bars with hangers, shelves, wire bins, and drawers. I put shirts and jackets on the hangers. I fold up my pants, skirts, and shorts and put them on the shelves. I put shoes in the wire bins. In the drawers, I put underwear, socks, and pajamas.
It's important to fold the clothes that you put in drawers or on shelves neatly. It's a lot easier to find certain clothes. Also, whenever I don't fold clothes and put them on the shelves, they always fall of and I have a mess to clean up. Unfolded clothes also take up more space than folded clothes do.
Also, if you have a shirt that always falls off the hanger, fold it up and put it on a shelf. I recommend zipping up / buttoning up your jackets before you put them on the hanger, or else they'll probably fall off.
If you don't know what a hanger is, it's the item on this set to the right of the owl in the bottom left corner. You could probably buy them at places like Wal-Mart.
I also use a bin to hold dirty clothes until I wash them.

Organizing you Bathroom♥
In my bathroom, I have a counter with a sink, and underneath that there's cabinets. The counter is in the corner, so there's walls on two sides of it.
On the counter, I have a bowl of my makeup supplies in the corner that has walls on both sides, so the bowl can't fall onto the floor and make a mess. (I hope I made that clear enough. It's hard to explain.) I have out soap, too. I also put out my lotion. I put this out because I have really dry skin, so it's a reminder to use it.
In the cabinets, I put things like my hairbrush, hair supplies, and face wash. If you don't have enough of room in the cabinets, try to find a basket that fits in it. This allows more room.
If you have one of those mirrors that pops open as a little cabinet, I would use that for teeth supplies like toothpaste and dental floss. If you don't have one of those, put your teeth supplies in the cabinets.

I hope this helped!

Advice Set #4: How to Get Over Losing a Friend
Requested by: Anonymous

Losing a friend is hard. I've been through it. Almost everybody goes through it.

The first thing to do when you and your friend are in an argument or "fight" is to see if you did anything wrong that upset her. If you did, apologize.

If you didn't do anything wrong, don't apologize because she could take advantage of you. However, think about what's right and wrong.

If you and your friend are just not friends anymore, then you should accept that she didn't value your friendship enough to keep track of it, so therefore she doesn't deserve you as a friend.

If you're upset about losing your friend, you could do thing to take your mind off of it.

Advice Set #3: Summer Makeup♥

Two years ago - 70 views
Advice Set #3: Summer Makeup♥
Requested by: peace.luv.happiness

Summer 2010 is here! I think light makeup is best for summertime.

**Before you start wearing makeup, make sure it's okay with your parents. Also, after every 6 months, you should throw out your mascara and eyeliner and get new ones. Mascara and eyeliner over 6 months old can be bad for you when you use it.**

Bronzer
Unless your face has a natural tan, bronzer is the only skin makeup product I use during the summer. Unless there's a blemish that you'd prefer to cover with concealer, I would recommend wearing either bronzer or no makeup for your skin.

Eyeshadow
I normally don't wear any eyeshadow during the summer. If I do wear any, I usually keep it a natural color. I have gold-ish colored eyeshadow that looks natural on my skin, so I use that.

Blush
I don't wear blush during the summer because I go outside everyday so my cheeks naturally have color. I suggest wearing little or no blush.
Eyeliner
The eyeliner that I wear during the summer is a shade darker than my skin. I only use a thin line of eyeliner on my upper lid during the summer.

Mascara
I don't wear any mascara during the summer. I just curl my eyelashes with an eyelash curler. Ask your parents before you use these. They can pinch the skin on your eyelid if you curl your lashes too close to the skin on your eyelid. If you want to wear mascara during the summer, I suggest going for brown or another natural color.

Lip Products
As for lip products, I only use chap stick during the summer. If you want to wear lipstick or lip gloss, I suggest using a light pink, brown, or tan.

I hope this helped! Thanks for reading.
